Global Missions

"And his name will be the hope of all the world." (Matthew 12:21 NLT)

Highrock partners with several churches, mission agencies, and individuals around the globe to share God’s love and invite people into abundant life in Him. In years past, we have sent short-term missions teams to countries in Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

Our global missions committee meets regularly at Highrock to strategically plan and support our missions. For more information about missions at Highrock, please contact LeLe Hsu at leleh@highrock.org

Our Global Partners

Grant & Miho Buchholtz

Place of Service: Tokyo, Japan
Duration of Service: 7 years
Sending Agency: Covenant World Mission, Evangelical Covenant Church

Grant (originally from Des Moines, Iowa) and Miho (originally from Yokohama, Japan) met in France while Grant served as a missionary doing church planting with Operation Mobilization. Both have Master of Divinity degrees from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Grant also received a Master of Theology in Preaching from Gordon-Conwell and the University of Edinburgh. Both previously served on staff at Highrock and founded the youth ministry during their time on staff.

Grant and Miho Buchholtz were commissioned in 2009 to serve as missionaries to Japan. For two years they worked alongside a church in Yokohama, working in the areas of discipleship and evangelism. They were then commissioned in 2013 to serve in a longer capacity, continuing their work in Japan.

Grant and Miho are currently pursuing their calling to plant a new church, raise up young leaders, and create a church planting movement throughout Tokyo. In January 2015, they launched Tokyo Life Church, a bilingual international church in Ikebukuro, Tokyo (this is a main area in the NW part of Tokyo). They created a Launch Team of a dozen people who came from a partner church in Tokyo, along with several people from Boston, MA. The focus has been on raising leaders and creating a healthy community. Miho has led an Alpha Course for seekers, and baptism preparation classes for three young Japanese who recently came to faith. Through special Christmas events and a summer English camp, Grant and Miho have connected with many young adults and families in the community. Grant says, “In just two short years, we are amazed at how God is moving in this church plant. Our dream is becoming a reality. Young Japanese are encountering Jesus. Our community is also diverse, with people from six continents.”
